Every year, we are losing 369 billion tons of snow and ice. Over the past 100 years, global sea level has raised nearly 178 mm. Carbon dioxide levels in the air is at its highest in 650,000 years. Above stats are enough for us to realize that we as humans are just feeding our capitalism need and completely ignoring the mother Earth.
Norvergence is an initiative taken by a team of conservationists to create awareness among the global population about the consequences of melting ice caps/glaciers, rising sea levels, etc.
Through this website, the team highlights the top reasons and consequences of global warming. It further briefly describes how this complex shift in earth’s climate has led to a series of deadly natural disasters:
- Hurricane Irma
- East Africa Drought
- South Asian Floods
- Hurricane Harvey
- Earthquakes in Chile and Haiti
Norvergence also focuses on the impact of global warming on marine species and ecosystem. Fishes, seabirds, and other marine animals are facing problems such as loss of breeding grounds, high level of mortalities, and mass migration.
There is no doubt that addressing climate change will require many tough solutions. Some of these solutions practically exist while the other ones hinge on humans changing the way we make or consume energy.

Whenever a natural disaster hits any part of the world, it raises a lot of questions about human involvement in climate change. In 2017, NASA released a series of images depicting the hard-hitting stories of melting glaciers, floods, earthquakes, and other various natural disasters.
